Many journals require that "keywords" (sometimes referred to as "key words" or "descriptors") be taken from the National Library of Medicine Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) list:

Authors can also browse the MeSH list in Portuguese, Spanish and English on the site Descritores em Ciências da Saúde (DeCS):

When building a bibliography for papers related to the field of medicine, authors should locate and copy their references from PubMed:

That will ensure the accuracy of the references.

However, it might thereafter be necessary to alter the style of the bibliography to suit that of the target journal.

For authors working in fields other than medicine, there are a number of comprehensive databases available (for a fee) from Thomson Scientific:

If your institution does not subscribe to these services, you might need to copy bibliographic data from the individual journals cited. Otherwise, do a Google search for the reference you need, but beware of copying references from other articles in which they were cited, rather than from the website of the journals in which they were published. You might find that you have copied other authors' typographical errors.

Caso sua instituição não seja assinante de tais serviços, é possível que tenha que copiar dados bibliográficos de cada periódico citado. Outra opção é fazer uma busca no Google pela referência necessária, mas opte por copiar referências do site dos periódicos nos quais elas foram publicadas em vez de copiá-las de outros artigos nos quais elas foram citadas, pois ao copiá-las de outros artigos é possível que acabe copiando os erros tipográficos cometidos por outros autores.
